Prognosis

So as you are well aware Twin 2 went to the doctor back in March.  Here is here story.

The first doctor appointment was just a meet the doctor type of meeting and some blood tests were ordered as I had gained some weight and was hoping it wasn’t just my doing but maybe I had a ‘condition’ and I would get pills and it would be all better.  Now, I don’t mean to make light of people with a thyroid (or any other) condition but I just don’t know how I let myself get to the poundage of where I am today so there had to be a good reason other than myself.

Step one was blood work and a urine test.  I had to fast for 8 hours before the blood work/urine test.  Not a problem.  I went around 8:30 on a Saturday morning and was done giving blood by 9:00 a.m.  After the vials were taken I was then given a Styrofoam cup and two vials for me to go pee.

One is my pee cup and the other was my drinking cup.

I asked if I had to fill the two vials and the answer was no I only had to make sure I had some pee in both.  Into the bathroom I went.  I sat there for 10 minutes and guess what.  I. COULD. NOT. PEE!!!!  This NEVER happens.  I was in there for 10 minutes and thought I better get out so the rest of the people who needed to give a urine test could do so and I wouldn’t be holding them up.  When I came out of the bathroom with my cup and empty vials in hand the nurse asked me if a glass of water would help.  Sure.  So I drank that quickly then got another one.  And I wondered the halls as I was not leaving until I gave my sample.  I started stressing as to why I couldn’t pee as I usually can at the drop of a hat.  1.5 HOURS later I was able to get enough out of me to do the trick.  I have NEVER had this problem before.  I’m not sure if it was the stress knowing that I had to.  Maybe I had some sort of performance anxiety? I think so.

So after the whole fiasco of the blood work/urine test I had a follow up appointment last Thursday for the results.  What was the prognosis?  Drum roll please….I got fat on my own.  The doctor told me to exercise at least 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes.  She even wrote me a prescription.  She said to treat it like medication which I will do.  So far so good.

Wha'd up?

Easter is a few weeks away now but we all had a great time in NH.  We also celebrated our mom's and grandmothers birthday because we missed it on March 21.

Here is the cake our Wiw made ...minus the toothpicks as those were to keep the saran wrap off it.

Bill and Twin 1 took the dogs up Wayne's road and hiked in the woods that were all cut down.

NH really wore Pearl out. This is her when we got home.

This past weekend we hiked a new trail in Hammond Plains.  Its called Sandy Lake.  Its open to dogs from Oct - June for them to run around.  In the summer people swim and picnic here.  Dogs are allowed at that time but they are required to be leashed.   Here are some photos of the hike and some of the big trees in that woods.

Wha'd Up?

We did it!!  We booked our trip last night!  We are going to the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Mexico. We are staying in the Select Club Adults Only room.  Should be an adventure.  The resort seems like it has a lot of activities so we don't have to leave the resort for any excursions.  We didn't get the flight with Transat that we had hoped as the price jumped to over $1700 so we booked with Sunwing.  Flights suck (times) but we got to pick our seats and we'll hope for the best.  We've flown with them before and everything went smoothly so we're not expecting any disasters but the Transat plane was just so much better.  25 days!!! Now we gotta take this working out/eating healthy seriously...I mean we should be able to stay on track for 25 days right?!

WHOOT!! WHOOT!!

We hope everyone had a great Easter weekend.  We went down to the parents place on Thursday night and Twin 2 and her hubby came back Saturday night but Twin 1 and the rest of the family stayed down and returned on Monday.  It was a nice break.

Anyway just a short post with more to follow in the coming days.

Wha'd up?

Not too much going on again this week.  Our life is consumed with picking a Mexico resort.  We got together last night to pick...and by pick we mean narrowing it down to 2 resorts instead of 5.  We did  decide that we want to fly with Air Transat.

The two choices in order are:

1-      Sandos Caracol Eco Resort – this one has everything we want and close to Playa Del Carmen.  With Transat it’s a little pricier then Sunwing/Signature.

2-      Grand Palladium Kantenah – cheaper with Transat but it isn't close to Playa and does not offer an “adults only” section or beach club.

We need to be close to Playa Del Carmen because that is where we get our tanning lotion! The only place we can find what we use and for cheap!

In other weekly activities:

Gil is growing up and may need a new bed VERY SOON J

On Saturday Twin 1 tried to find a new trail to take the dogs for a walk and went searching for one in Tantallon.  After driving over logging roads they came to something that “might have been” part of it.  There will be more google searching on this before we venture back out there.  Here are a few pictures of it:

We’ve had some “different” weather this week

This was Saturday morning:

This was Monday afternoon at Long Lake:

This was Tuesday evening at Long Lake:

AND………………………WHO WANTS ONE?

Here are Twin 1 puppies waiting for Daddy to get out of the bathroom to play like they do every morning.

This weekend is Easter.  Doesn't this look like a fun lunch?

MEXICO IN 34 DAYS!!!!

This was taken a few weeks ago.  It's our vision board.

Wha'd up?

39 days till Mexico!!! We have not booked yet but we keep looking at a few of the same resorts that are in budget and also looking at others HOPING they will drop.  We know we want to leave on or around April 24th for 7 days.  That being the case, we could actually wait to the last minute as it's all booked off but we kinda like to plan ahead and know where we are going.  Here is one that is possible but look at all the trees!

Saturday we had our HAIR CUT DAY! and our hairdresser makes excellent Mochas for us.  We have pre-booked all our hair appointments for 2016.

Saturday night we had a game of Monopoly at Twin 1's house.  There was a little arguing as usual and a fun game turned into not so fun.

Twin 2 found a new way to cook eggs as we were getting tired of hard boiled all the time. These are baked with some cheese added on top.  Crack an egg into a muffin tin and bake for 20 min

Twin 1 scored on the Fish she bought.  Package says 4 fillets....there were 5!!!!

Amoxicillin Trihydrate

Twin 1 is still sick.  She made an appointment with her Dr. but can't get in until March 29/16.  Wiw talked her into going sooner as last year she had a bout of pneumonia so she made an appointment at the Family Focus walk in Clinic for 6pm last night.  They were only 20 min behind schedule which was nothing as her own Dr is usually 2 hours behind schedule.

Its been confirmed that she has a Bronchial Infection which may have turned if she left it too long.  So thank you Wiw.   Last year she had some chalky liquid meds as she couldn't swallow the horse pills they gave her at first so this year she requested the liquid which she chases with White Grape Juice which is delicious!

She was prescribed Amoxicillin Trihydrate which is used for Bronchitis, Pneumonia etc.

She was all prepared to buy the Grape Juice but when she went to give the prescription to the pharmacist they asked her if she wanted Chewables instead.  Chewables?! They make chewables? Yes of course for kids that can't swallow the big pills.  She couldn't pick her flavor as they only have them in a fruity flavor so no Juice was required.

After waiting 1/2 hour for the prescription to be filled she went and picked it up.  "Are these for you?"  Yes for me and not for kids.   She went home and had some supper and took her first does of the pills.  They are actually really tasty.  She has to take them every 8 hours for 10 days.  so 8pm, 4am, 12pm, 8pm etc.

This morning she was thinking it does not look like there are 60 pills in that bottle so she had to pour them out and double check.  There were 60.  She felt like a drug addict counting out her supply.

After her pills she ate a chocolate bar that she bought from a fundraiser at work and then that evening proceeded to cough so much she threw it up.  $2 down the drain and no bars left and she wanted to take the whole bottle if it meant no more coughing but refrained.

At this point she is still contagious so NO KISSING!

Wha'd Up?

Just a quick little update.

Saturday night Sister Wi and Bro-in-law had a few people over to celebrate Bro-in-law's birthday.  You can tell we are getting old as the party conversation consisted of anxiety, politics, unions and vasectomies.  It was a good time. For realzies.

On Sunday both of our husband's got sick with the flu/cold.

Us on the other hand felt fine.  We were scheduled for a 7k run and Twin 1 needed to take the dogs out.  We decided to take them to Ashburn so the dogs could run and play while we were running.  It was a little difficult as the course was hilly and we ended up running about 7.5k (with walking breaks of course up the hills) but it was so different and nice running on the grass.  Just like running on clouds.

THEN Twin 1 got sick.
