Week 2

Monday – rest day – YAY for rest day!

Tuesday – ran 4k on dreadful treadmill again as it was a hurricane outside.

Wednesday – Ripped video – level 2 - AKA plank city

Thursday - 5k -  We were contemplating on which house to run from or  if we wanted to run with our fellow TTP’ers at 6:30 p.m. or to go out right after work and get it over with.  We opted to get it over with.  Twin 1 made the decision to include the trail in our route as it is nice and flat.  BIG MISTAKE!   The first 0.8k was all downhill.  Great pace.  Next 3k was in the trail which was mucky and muddy and it felt like we were running in quicksand.  Pace sure slowed down here but it was nice to be able to finally run in the trail again.  Our last 0.5k we turned the corner to head home and it is 0.5k of uphill into the headwind.  Nice way to end off a run.  Twin 2 was going to take a pic of the trail but what little momentum she had she did not want to lose it.  Next time.

Once again it’s this time of year where you have no idea what to wear when outside for a run.  Temps were 7 with a feel like of 4.  Wind was strong and chilly but the sun was shining.

The exciting news of the night was we got to use our GARMINs!!! We had a similar watch at one time but it was cheap and order straight from China.  It was very difficult to work.  The Garmin is a BREEZE!!   We would recommend it to anyone.  Well worth the money. Turns out we ordered the watches that matched our shirts…this was not planned, just the way it happened.

Friday – REST day again!! Whoot!

Long Run Sunday

As mentioned in the previous post Sunday runs are our long runs and so starts the getting up at the crack of dawn to get it over with for the day.

Our week 1 long run starts at 6k.

At 7:00 a.m. it was a nice Sprinter (Winter/Spring) morning but what does one wear for this time of year?  It was +3 with a 'feel like' of -1 with 15 km/h winds.  We chose to wear long sleeve shirt and capris.  It was definately a little chilly starting out with the head wind for our first 3k but once we got turned around and started the run home with the wind at our backs it was nice.  However, we believe our hands and the bottom 1/2 of our legs were frostbitten and took a little while to thaw out but we wouldn't have dressed any heavier.

Now the thing about Sundays and running so early is we eat breakfast at 5:30/6:00 a.m. then have 'lunch' at 10:30/11 a.m and supper by 3:00 p.m.  We gotta work on that.

On Monday THESE arrived in the mail! YAY!

The BEST thing about running is the clothes/gadgets/accessories.  Can't wait to try these babies out on our next outside run.

Goal for ½: To cross the finish line before it is dismantled

MONTH 1 / WEEK 1

As you can see we are under way.  For the month of April we have added an Arm Challenge and Ab Challenge.  So far so good and right on track.

Twin 1: (see blog #1  for my first run). Thursday run Twin 2 was not feeling well so she was not allowed outside so I had to run outside by myself for 5K.  It was “warmish” weather and I had no idea how to dress so I put on what I thought was the right clothes but was sadly mistaken.  100ft down the road do I go home and change and start over or push through this and continue sweating like a pig?  Continue I did.  As this was the first run outside in a long time by myself I had no idea of my pace.  Turned the first corner and BAM! Wind in the face! After the first KM I had to walk. I took my music with me and as soon as I hit the Bay road it was drowned out by the music of cars whizzing by.  After my short walk I started running again and then had another short rest at the stop light. Does anyone ever pray like me that the walk sign will not come on so you can rest even longer? I’m not one of those that run in place at the stop light…that’s what it is..a STOP light so you stop what you’re doing.  I obey.  I made it to the turn around point and I walked/ran the rest of the way.  I was quite disappointed in myself on the way home because I had to walk so much even though they were just short enough to catch my breath I felt like I was out forever but I got home and looked at my Ipod and it was 35 Min! Fastest run ever! Then I started thinking maybe my timer stopped for a bit…I will never know but I choose to believe I was fast.

My Saturday consisted of my rowing machine I purchased from my brother in law a while back and I finally pulled it out to use it.

I set my timer to 22 min and got on.  My first few minutes were hard so I was trying to figure out how to make it “easier” and once I did I was rolling…or rowing I should say.  I was pretending that I was in the boat in New Harbour river rowing to Grammie Elieen’s house.  Then when I was getting tired (yes I kept looking at my clock) I was pretending I was Silken Laumann in the summer Olympics.  I AM AN OLYMPIAN!  I was in the zone. What? Is that my timer going off already? Music to my ears! I put the rower away and found these on the floor….

And also these grew on my hands and bothered me ALL day

Woke up the next morning and could not move my arms.

Twin 2: Tuesday and Thursday my runs were conducted on the dreadful treadmill due to weather/not feeling well.  Horrific!  I ran 5k on Thursday night (although not feeling well I thought I could sweat out whatever I was catching).  Usually I take my tablet with me to watch Netflix but last time I did the swinging of my arms got caught in the cord to my headphones and knocked it off the treadmill and I had to run in silence.  I took my music with me this time and hooked it up to the speakers on the shelf.  Perfect! This run will be so much better.  About 10 min into the run my music stopped….as far as I could tell for no reason…S.I.L.E.N.C.E

This week our Wednesday workout video consisted of JM Ripped in 30 Level 1.  This wasn’t too bad as we had both just completed the JM 90 day Body Revolution (well Twin 1 did…I quit with 3 videos left.  That’s how I roll).

Saturday instead of a short run that was scheduled due to the weather my original plan was to go to my sista’s house and get on her recumbent bike.  After being out all afternoon shopping for Mexico (did not succeed) I did not want to go back out in the torrential downpour so decided to do a Turbo Fire 20 min HIIT.  Best speediest workouts ever!

Until next time...
