So we have the BLT Fun Run tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. The weather may not cooperate with us so it may be cancelled. If it's just a normal rain storm it's a go, if it's a tropical storm on the other hand it will be postponed/cancelled. The anticipation is building.
Ever since the weather updates leading up to today we've had numerous discussions of how the rain affects your run. In our experience, if it's a torrential downpour and gale force winds, whatever training you have done goes out the window. The goal at that point is just to hang in there and finish. We experienced this during our 1/2 marathon two years ago. We are not looking forward to Saturday however, 5k is a lot shorter than 21k. It also makes a difference mentally on whether it's raining when the race starts or the rain starts after the starting gun. If it starts afterwards what options do you have...continue on as you already started. If before, that's when the hesitation and mental game takes place. I guess that's why you train in any weather condition. It still doesn't make it fun.
So onto the Friday Funny....IF the run goes ahead tomorrow morning:
