Motivational Monday & Weigh In

“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.”

― Rikki Rogers

So we're not doing the greatest...after losing a lb or two after our first week we've gained that back.

Twin 1 - 132.4
Twin 2 - 175.1

But that's ok.  We haven't been eating the best but have been doing most of our exercises whether it be weights/bike/run, etc.  One step at a time.

Wha'd Up Wednesday

So last Wednesday evening we ventured to Boot Camp at 6 p.m.  It was pretty fun.  There were between 20 and 30 peeps there, some new faces and some familiar faces from the TTP running group.  It lasted 30 min which included warm up and cool down.  There was some group circuit exercises, exercises on your own and some partner work.  You don't have to worry whether someone else is better than you as there are people there of all ages and sizes and fitness level and you just do what you can do.  We plan to be back this evening.  They are usually held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.  We missed this past Sunday as we were in NH.

As stated we went to NH on the long weekend.  We just mainly hung out around home and we also went for a bike ride.  Twin 2 has been bugging her husband to packs the bikes in the van and he did this weekend so we had to make sure we actually went for a bike ride or he'd never do it again.  We drove around the NH River. We figured it Twin 1 could run around it (back during half marathon training last summer) we could for sure bike around it.  Took about 52 minutes.

So as we started running a bit again Twin 2 got an email from Runners World about how to 'Run Less Run Faster'.  She was intrigued and always looking for an easy way out so she ordered this book.  She read the book and no, it will not be easy.  There will be less runs but the runs will be harder.  More on the book and their training plan in another post.

Just in case you are wondering we did not weigh ourselves on Sunday.  Mom and Dad don't have a scale (or maybe they do but we didn't see one) so instead of weighing ourselves in the middle of the week we'll just wait until next Sunday.

It is PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE season.  We haven't had one yet.  We're gonna try to hold off until Thanksgiving....one month...

So not much else to report.  Twin 2 did make a discovery.  She has an iphone and she's not the greatest with technology and if her phone can text she's happy with it.  Anyway when she was setting her alarm last Monday to get up early and go for the 5 am run she discovered that she could use a song as her alarm instead of the ones they give you on the phone.  Well...what song did she pick?  Larger than Life by the Backstreet Boys.  That's about the only thing that could get her up.

Notice this alarm is never on repeat

Take a listen.  Try it.  When the Boys tell you that you are larger than life I bet it will get you up too. (the music actually starts at :57)

Tip Tuesday

Designate one day of the week as your long run day.  This is your longest run of the week.  Use the long run day to increase your mileage to your desired distance.  Your other two run days of the week will be of shorter distance than your long run day.  For example: run one: 3.5 miles; run two: 3 miles; run three: 5 miles (long run day).

Wha'd up?

HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

We started a new workout plan.  These we found on Pinterest.  We are rotating days of arms/abs/run and legs/bike.  We are resting on Friday's.

Here at the workouts we are doing:

I don't think you can really read them LOL. They are very tiny but you can see the pictures.

Twin 1's neighbor is a seller of It Works Global and she talked her into buying the Greens on the Go and if Twin 1 is trying it then Twin 2 always falls suit and is trying it as well.  We started it last week.  We bought the berry flavor and its pretty good.  We were drinking it mixed with water but Twin 1 just bought some OJ and it tastes good in that as well.

Also this past week Twin 1's MIL gave her some fresh veggies from her garden which are now in the window hoping to ripen and some 50% off Black Forest cake which we polished off Saturday when we were tanning :-)

In case you doubted us we just want to advise that we did actually get up and run for 5:00 a.m.on Monday morning with CS.  Twin 2 picked up Twin 1 at 4:50 a.m. and we got to CS's around 4:55 a.m. and was on the road at 5:00 a.m. as planned.  We ran 2k out and 2k back as we had to be home in time to get ready for work (Twin 2 had an EDO).  It was dark during our run as the sun normally doesn't rise until around 6:30 a.m..   It was still humid for that early in the morning which we didn't think it would be.  There is talk about doing it again someday.  Twin  2 and CS has plans to meet up downtown before work as they both work downtown.

Tip Tuesday

If you're hydrating with a sports drink, you're getting carbs and electrolytes, so you don't need to also eat an energy gel.  Ingesting too many carbs can lead to GI distress.  If you prefer both, use one the first hour, the other in the second.

Weigh Day

This morning was weigh day, week 1.  Turned out well for both of us.  Twin 1 lost 1.2 lbs coming in at 130.8 & Twin 2 lost 2.2 lbs coming in at 173.5.  Truth be told, we were slightly worried last night as we got into the chocolate chips...:)  but maybe the run we did yesterday morning helped.

Saturday morning at 6:15 a.m. Twin 1 and CS arrived at Twin 2's for a 5k run.  We wanted to get out early to get it over and done, to beat the heat and Twin 1 had to be home by 7:30 a.m.  We left the house at 6:29 a.m. and was back by 7:12 a.m.  It was a perfect morning for activity.  It started off with a little chill in the air and kinda felt a bit like fall but by runs end the sun was starting to shine and it was getting hot.  We wish we had of taken a camera because when we were in the trail the sun was bright red coming up through the trees.  It was magical.  We need to invent a little running capris pocket sized camera just for those moments.  The rest of the day we tanned.  Trying to get the last little bit of warmth and sun soaked up.

Tonight we had planned to attend boot camp at 6:00 p.m. but CS backed out due to family commitments.  That made us not want to go (terrible) so for punishment the three of us have a 5:00 a.m. run planned tomorrow morning before work.  Keep you posted on the outcome.

Wha'd Up Wednesday

We’ve been humming and hawing about posting our weight and measurements for the public to see.  We were considering it in hopes that it might keep us accountable to aide in losing inches/weight as not much else does.  We have made the decision to do it and are now sharing this info with the world (or our 2 readers).

We weighed and measured ourselves on Sunday, August 23rd.  We will check in and weigh ourselves once a week and the check in for measurements will be every month.  We have decided to make weigh day Sunday mornings as that might help up not overeat on the weekend like we usually do.

Here are the stats (lbs and inches):

Twin 2:            Weight – 175.7

Bust – 36

Waist – 31

Hips – 46

Thigh – 27.5

--------------------------------------------------

Twin 1:           Weight – 132.0

                        Bust – 31

                        Waist – 26

                        Hips – 35

                        Thigh – 23

                        Bicep – 10.75

                        Calf – 13.5

You will notice that Twin 1 has more measurements this week.  During our next check in on Sept 23 Twin 2 will have those added.   However, the ones she has listed are the most important and the harder to work off.

Also this past Sunday we started this workout and we are doing it for the week (compliments of Pinterest).

Tip Tuesday

Eat, drink, and be merry after a big race.  Eat a small snack within the first 30 to 60 minutes postrace.  Save the big meal for later in the day when your appetite returns and you can enjoy that reward meal.

Rubber Bands

So Twin 2 has a rubber band addiction/obsession.  She uses a lot of them at work (or used to) and she always came home with no less than 5 around her wrist every day.  A sign was put up on her office door that she would see every day to remind her to remove the elastics from around her wrist before she left the office.  She had some hanging from every door knob in her house.  One day someone even asked her where she got her bracelets because they matched her outfit so well :)

Over the past year since her new position she hasn't had the opportunity to use them as much until one day last week.  TA DA!!!  Look what she brought home.

There are many uses for rubber bands and below are just a few.  Check out #8 'Craft a statement necklace' YEP .... homemade prezzies coming up.

Our absolute favourite is #19.  Genius!

 http://www.treehugger.com/cleaning-organizing/19-clever-uses-for-rubber-bands.html

Which leads us to her pet peeve about how rubber bands are packaged.  They are packaged by the 100s, in a box.  You need to remove and untangle about 30 of them before you manage to get one loose (at her work anyway).

DISASTER!!
Her and another co-worker were discussing the rubber band packaging and how it could be more efficient when reaching for that elastic.  Twin 2 suggested that they come hung up one by one somehow.  Her co-worker said 'they should come on a mannequin's wrist'.  BRILLIANT!! Why wasn't that thought of before??

We're now working on it.

Wha'd Up Wednesday

Vacation is over for Twin 2.

Twin 1 says Hi from New Harbour.

She went down on the weekend with the doggies and a friend.  You don't know what relaxing is until you are in New Harbour (or Mexico).

Not a whole lot to report.  Weather was fantastic on the weekend and we are in a little heat wave.  This is the week to take vacation fo sho.

Update on Lou & Gil:  Lou still dislikes Gil.  There is less swatting and hissing/growling just more ignoring and avoiding.  Gill on the other hand still adores Lou.  Here is a pic that was captured one morning.  One second after this pic was taken the fight began.

A picture of a little water fall/stream taken in a path in the woods at Point Pleasant.

And that's all we have for today folks.  A short post with nothing of much interest.  We were going to post about our weekend golf tourney but the pics are still on Twin 1's camera that she has with her in NH.  Someday soon we'll get that one up.

Tip Tuesday

The best energy bars for before and during a run contain about 25 grams of carbohydrate and less than 15 grams of protein.  Eat one bar about an hour before a run
