The Season Is Nigh

PSL's are out.  Look what's in!

We are having our first one on Saturday November 19th at THE CHRONICLE HERALD PARADE OF LIGHTS!!

This is the season where Xmas parties are being booked and Xmas baking will be taking place.  The hustle and bustle of the retail scene has already started.

There is finally a sign up on the BLT trail for bikers to RING THAT BELL or SOUND THAT HORN!.  Finally! but some riders still don't.

We have yet to take the bikes from Twin 1's to Twin 2's....maybe this weekend? It's getting colder.

Workout Wednesday

After taking a week off of working out to a set schedule we have decided to give Jillian Michaels 90 Day Body Revolution another go.  We have ALMOST come close to finishing it but never did and we all know that ALMOST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.

We started it on Sunday October 30th and we work out 6 days a week. Two days a week we are to do cardio video but we have decided we can either do cardio video or bike or run.  We want to keep up running so may work running into those days.

Sunday - October 30th, 2016 - Video 1 - DONE!

Monday - October 31st, 2016 - Video 2 - DONE! (Twin 2 did this on Tuesday as it was Halloween night and she was passing out treats)

Tuesday - November 1st, 2016 - Cardio 1 - DONE! We chose to do 30 min bike.

Have a great week and we will  have more updates on our exciting workouts next Wednesday.

BLT 5k Fun Run Recap

So this past Saturday morning was the BLT 5K Fun Run.  As mentioned in last Friday’s post we were supposed to get a rain storm.  The race was still on so we had to mentally prepare for the weather conditions.  We paid for the registration a while ago, and it being the last year for the race, we weren’t backing out.   We just had a small running crew this year.  One of Twin 1’s co-workers backed out due to the rain but CS and CF (and her daughter) were committed.

We arrived at the school for race kit pick up around 8:15 am.  The race started at 9:00 am.  The good thing about this run is the school is open so the runners can wait inside until it is go time, which really worked out for us under the current weather conditions. At 8:50 am we were called outside to line up at the start.  At that time there was no rain but there was some wind and humidity.  Humidity is not a normality for October 22 in Nova Scotia.

There weren’t that may participants as in past years and probably for two reasons: 1) A lot of the local runners were running the Legs for Literacy in Moncton, NB; and 2) the weather.  I’m sure a few backed out because of that.

The weather during the race was good…well half way.  Around the half way point or just after is when the rain started.  The torrential rain.  I don’t think anyone really seemed to mind though as it was a nice relief because of the humidity.  And the rain seemed to come straight down and wasn’t blowing around.

Ok, maybe two people minded the rain.  CS because she threw her hat away a km or so into the run because her head was hot.  And CF because she was wearing glasses.  At one point she just took them off and Twin 2 guided her through the trail and tried to help her avoid the puddles.  Her bright pink sneakers led the way.

Now, we normally don’t have spectators but at this race we did…but we didn’t know it lol.  CS and CF saw Sister Wi but we didn’t.  She did capture a few pictures to prove she was there.  Here is one of us all running together:

We’re not sure our final times for this 5k as it wasn’t timed but from Twin 1’s watch she came in around 38:XX, CS around 39:XX and Twin 2 and CF came in around 42:XX.  And CF’s daughter did well and came in between our two groups.

Apparently 5k tires CF and her daughter right out :)

It’s sad that this race has to end after only 3 years as it is exactly what it’s called.  A FUN RUN. And local. And in the beautiful trail in the fall.
