Vacation

Well Twin 2's vacation is technically over and Twin 1 still has a week left to go.  As mentioned before Twin 2's vacation started a little earlier than expected due to a friend's death but on the bright side they got to enjoy some time in PEI with friends.

On Tuesday this past week we, along with Twin 2's Husband and Bro-in-law went golfing at Brunello bright and early at 7 am.  We tried to beat the heat.  The next tee off time was at 740 a.m so we had a nice relaxing 18 holes with no one rushing us from behind.

After golf we grabbed some lunch at the TBR then we (minus Husband and Bro-in-law) made our way to Marble Slab Creamy to get ourselves a FREE ice cream sandwich (free for CAA members).  The thing was huge and very tasty.  We both tried the coffee flavour.

AND then after that we took the dogs down to Point Pleasant for an hour.  We were beat after that and so were the doggies. To bad we couldn't sleep while the dogs drove us home.

On summer vacation Twin 2 and her Husband go to either Bayswater Beach or Rushton Beach.  Rushton's water is so much warmer so we took a trip up there for the day on Wednesday.  It took us a little longer to get there as our GPS took us through some back roads but we manged to find out way.  The trees are growing over the beach signage so we almost missed it.  When we got there it was a little cloudy then they rolled away and the sun came out.  We both worked on our tan and Husband got some reading in.  We took a lunch and spent a few hours there.  Then we explored around Tatamagouche a bit (well...the thrift store).

Twin 1 made her way down home on Thursday and will return early next week.  On Thursday Twin 2 did a little thrift shopping with Husband and got a little tanning in on Friday afternoon.

The big exciting event upcoming this week is we get our haircut!!!  It's been forever!  Our stylist broke her finger so we had to wait about 9 weeks or so between haircuts.  We both may shave our head if we have to wait any longer lol

R.I.P Jamie Pilon

It's been a sad week as Twin 2's BFF's husband passed away in a motorcycle accident late Sunday evening.  Twin 2 is over in PEI attending the funeral.

We had a lot of good times with him.  When we ran the PEI 10k a few years back he made us the best pasta dinner and we got a new PB for the 10k and it was all because of that pasta dinner.

We love you.

Wha'd up?

We did it! We finally bought new sneakers!

Twin 1 stuck with New Balance and was thinking she was buying the same ones she has at home but they are the same brand but not the same kind.  They were on sale so why not….

Twin 2 went back to the Asics as she found these more comfortable then her last New Balance ones. They are very pretty as well.
Twin 1's shoes:

Twins 2 shoes:

Twin 1 finally completed this puzzle after 5 months.

TP was on sale this week past.  Only 3.99 and look at it all!!!

We have started running again and we have  A LOT of arm gear to wear on the run.  3 pieces to be exact.  Our Garmin’s, Fitbits and Runner ID.  How did we ever run without all this?

Twin 1 found a recepie online for homemade dog treats.  Only a few ingreditents needed and they turned out really well and the pups love them.

Our Tuesday Golf lessons are officially finished.  Our last lesson was last night and we played a few holes.  It was a great night for golf.  We would highly recommend these lessons at Brunello to anyone.

Motivational Monday

We've been recently trying to get back into running and most people are guilty, including ourselves, with the negative thought of how slow of a runner you are and people may not want to run with you for that reason.  Here's a little article to put things in perspective and just get out there and run.

http://womensrunning.competitor.com/2014/04/training-tips/if-you-run-slow-who-cares_22791#0U8tLtYyg6GBzlkT.01

A member of our local running group posted this on Facebook as a comment to the article which is a better way to look at it.

"Slow is the wrong term. Easy is a better term. "Easy" means at a pace you can breathe easy, chat and can recover from for the next day. Almost all runs, regardless of how experienced you are, should be like this.
Easy means you are far less likely to get injured. Less injured means you get to run more and that is how you get to run faster, by being consistent."

Wha'd up?

Wow these weeks are flying by.  The year is half over.

We went home over the long weekend.  The weather was actually quite nice for New Harbour J

On the way down the skies didn’t look too promising.  Around the airport we drove through torrential rains and some people actuallyl pulled over.  We put our 4way’s on as some cars were doing that as well.  We drove out of it and had a good drive.

Twin 1 wanted to check out the walk “around the shore” as Googlemaps made it look like it was sand.  It was not, or at least not the part that we walked.  We didn’t walk too far though we were just checking things out in case she goes home on vacation and wants to do a bit of the walk.  Its definalty walkable but with proper footwear as we just had flipflops/sandles on.  Here are a few pics of it.

And in the beginning we walked threw some longer grass and I think we disturbed some horse flies so they got Twin 1.

Some Strawberry shortcake took the itchy away

Also Twin 1 had a desk in the “office” and the FIL took it back to use as a table so we’ve been looking or a desk for a while.  Twin 2’s hubby found us one at the Salvation Army for $15!! Its like a teachers desk and works well.

We had another golf lesson last night.  This time it was at the driving range and we hit what felt like 1000 balls and were exhausted after it was over.  We know what we are doing wrong now and working on correcting it.  We have two more lessons left.  Last night was the first night that the weather was half decent as in the past they’ve always been cold.  Last night the wind was chilly but it died down a bit but still enough to keep the bugs away.

Wha'd Up?

Wednesday is here again.  This week is a short work week because of Canada Day falling on a Friday.  Most of us are going home this weekend as we haven't been since Easter.

It started to rain last night but it stopped and stayed misty/foggy for our golf lesson.  We haven't had one in 3 weeks so it was nice to get back there and learn.  We are both really enjoying the lessons and the teacher.  We will be sharing some pointers this weekend with our Papa.

We finished our 150km each in our Bike Challenge.  We did not raise as much as we liked but we didn't really "ask" anyone either we mostly just put it on Facebook.  The ones that did donate we really appreciated and we were actually surprised on some of the people we least expected gave us some.  We can still collect technically until June 30th.  We may do it again next June as it was nice to get out on the bikes.  But next year we will get them tuned up before we start.

DNR has been at Long Lake a few times last week so Twin 1 has been struggling with what to do with the dogs as she does not want another $180 ticket.  Last night before golf she gave Pearl her kong and took Onyx out and we weren't long out and it started pouring.  So instead of continuing around the loop which would have been shorter Onyx stopped and wanted to go back the way we came and wanted to get home and get her Kong.  Once her hubby got home he took them to Long Lake as we assumed as it was raining/wet there wouldn't be too many there or DNR and we were correct.

We took a break from our Fitbit Challenges this week.  Gil has been playing with Twin 2's fitbit as well as her road id and watches.  We are not sure what that is about but it could be the "rubber" wrist bands on them.

That's about it for this week.

1/2 year update

In the middle of the year we like to look back at our goals for 2016 to see how we are doing.  It is June so now's the time.

2016
Fitness:
Twin 1: Be as fit as I used to be and take care of myself on a regular basis - not quite there yet but maybe by the end of the year
Twin 2: Make healthier choices - I'm learning
Both:Bike/run total of 2016km this year and finish the JM workout program once and for all!
- did well at the beginning, fell away a bit but we joined the Great Cycle Challenge in June so this may help with the 2016km.  We had a plan to start running again but once we started biking we might wait until June is over and start running in July.
- started JM, didn't finish.  Maybe we will have better luck in the next half of the year.
Finance:
Twin 1: Pay off Credit Card and bring Credit line down to a manageable amount so that in 2017 if property in NH becomes available like a few did this past year then we could make a purchase. - nope
Twin 2: Pay off bills and save for a football trip - nope
Personal:
Twin 1: Be more adventurous and social.  Cook better meals for the family with more variety. - I have cooked better for myself but hubby doesn't like much. - haven't really had the opportunity to be more social yet but summer is coming so I'm sure I will have chances.
Twin 2: Be positive and stand up for myself/opinions when need be. - I'm getting there.  I made a decision to get away from the negativity of my old office and got a new job and so far things have been much more positive.  New job, new leaf.

Wha'd up?

We went to see Central Intelligence on Monday.  It was funny.  We went to the 5:20 pm showing and there were 7 people in the theatre (including us).  This will be our new movie time in the future.  Before Monday we had not been to the theatre in over 6 years.  We got free tickets with Twin 1 hubby's Scene card but Twin 2 spent that amount on Pretzel Bites/Pop/M&M's.  Note to self, be more prepared and bring snacks with us.  We always heard that they check your bag at the theatre for such things...but rules must've changed in 6 years.  There was actually no one even there to check our tickets after we bought them so we marched right on in.  We could have had Sobey's bags full of goodies and on one would be the wiser.  I guess 5:20 pm is the perfect time to go.

While the movie was going on this was happening in our area.  Forest Fire! (no one was hurt or any buildings damaged)

Over the weekend Twin 1, the pups and our friend BD took a hike on the Bluff Trail.  They did the first loop and it took 2.5hrs. Someday we might explore a little of the Blue Loop when we are more prepared with food and water.

This is us enjoying the view half way.

We have been continuing the Bike Challenge and we have about 40k each left to travel.  The past few times we have been doing the stationary bike as the clouds have been big and black by bike time.

Also, last night was supposed to be our golf lesson...third week in a row it was cancelled due to weather.  HOPEFULLY the weather shapes up next week or we'll be trying to get these lessons made up for the rest of the summer.

Tip Tuesday

"There comes a point, no matter how good an athlete you are, no matter how well trained you are, that it's going to transcend the physical, and become about the mental. You better get rid of that comfort zone real quick."
- Ken Chlouber
